NEMBA TrailFest @ Highland Mountain Bike Park Sept. 22-23, 2012
Mark your calendars and reserve the dates! Join many of NEMBA’s core trailbuilders for a weekend of building and riding at Highland Mountain Bike Park on Sept. 22-23. We’ll be building some awesome XC singletrack on the property adjacent to Highland for the first part of each day, and then doing some downhilling and cross-country riding for the rest of the day. We’ll be camping and using the bunkhouse at Highland Saturday night (but you’ll be welcome to come up Friday night, if you wish). On Saturday evening we’ll have BBQ, beverages and a bonfire. Mark, the owner of HMBP, has generously offered to provide comp passes to those that come build. You might wish to rent a DH bike to maximize your fun! NS NEMBA’s Joe DiZazzo and others have been up to Highland designing trails, and we want help building it. This will be a great work hard/play hard weekend. If you enjoy building trails, this weekend is not to be missed! If you are a NEMBA trail crew leader willing to lead a work crew, please let us know. We’re going to need quite a few crew leaders. We’ll try to have a meeting of crew leaders the Friday afternoon before the event to review the work sites. Also, please let NS NEMBA’s Steve Charrette know that you’ll be coming to the event. If you wish to reserve one of the 20 bunk bed, let him know that too since it’s first come, first served. RSVP Required: Steve Charrette Schedule (subject to change): Friday PM Key crew leaders meet for site review Volunteers can arrive and camp (unsupported) Saturday 7am We’ll try to provide coffee and donuts. Borderland Trail Issue

Fellow Riders of Borderland,

Please help me get the word out that there is some unwanted trail building activities going on in the park. Most of it is primarily some new building of trail off-shoots up to and over many of the big boulders that are off-trail - some close and some further from trails edge.
Most of this activity is occurring off of Friend's and Ridge Trails, but I'm sure there are other areas.

This activity has to cease immediately.

As many of you may know, NEMBA has had over a decade of good will in the park, and built 2 very useful trails in that time: Bob's Trail and NEMBA Trail, as well as a ton of bridges (Friends Trail) and other projects in the park. Over that same period of time, the Borderland Advisory Council and the Friends of Borderland (representing the public stakeholders for park use) as well as the DCR have all given Mountain Bikers positive reviews and continue to promote our presence as a beneficial user group. Please, let's not ruin a good thing with this activity.

Thank you
